SEO Hero Tip for Local SEO
One of the important SEO steps to getting found locally is to be on Google Maps. If you're a home-based business or do not serve customers at your location and would prefer not to have your address listed, don't worry: you can set it up not to show your exact address. To do this, you can set up the listing that you serve customers at their location.
To get started, you can setup a Google Business Account here:
You can sign in if you already have a Google or Gmail account that you want to use, or setup a new account.
The following information is needed to get your account fully setup:
Google login if you already have one
Business Physical Mailing Address (Google will mail a postcard to verify your business listing with a code). Don't worry, you don’t have to show your physical address on the map, it will just show you in the area. See above example of how my Denver Website Designer business listing works.
Phone Number
Hours of operation (good to add)
Website URL
Photos to add to account (such as your profile picture, banner and general photos to add to the listing)
Make sure to set a Google Business account for your business to help you get found, especially locally! If you're not on the map, you're likely not getting found locally. It's also wise to post on your Google+ page as your Business often too, it's like having a personal link to Google's ear to share your new pages, blog posts, and other content. It's very helpful to SEO to post as your Business and link to your website on Google+! Check out our business page for picklewix »
